Conversation with Wendy

Conversation between my cousin & I. It all started when she mentioned about watching the show Dexter. The leaders of the church warn against watching such material because of the spirit it brings, so I asked a question. I asked if what the leaders were saying were for all the other people in the church and not for the ones watching the show. That's when this conversation started.

Becky,

At this time I am going to have to ask you to stop commenting on that post. You have already offending enough people with your judgements. You have completely embarrassed me by what you have posted. You really need to stop & think before you say things. Would it be fair to you for everyone to assume that since you are living with your boyfriend (Something I'm pretty sure that goes against the teachings of the church) that you are having premarital sex with him (Something that also goes against the teaching as well)? I could of called you out on this in public on that post but I chose not to embarrass you & keep your personal life & choices out of it. I'm not judging you & you need to extend that same courtesy to everyone else.

Thanks,
Wendy

My response:

Those people who are offended and embarrassed choose to be so. I live in my boyfriend's house. I do not have sex with him. I have my own bedroom. It is your choice how you feel about my thoughts. I would not have cared had you said something about my living arrangements in public. What do I care what other people think? I'm not judging anyone. I just want people to actually THINK about the choices they make in life. Would watching that show allow the spirit of Christ to be there?
----------
Wendy:

Becky ~ You were totally judging people. Everything you said was a judgement. It doesn't matter if you have your own room or not, you are still living with a man that you are not married to & that goes against the teachings of the church. You can hide your head in the sand about that but it doesn't change the fact that what you are doing is something you shouldn't be. That is your choice & something you have to live with & answer for. Wether you want to believe it or not you have a habit of not thinking before you speak & you offend a lot of people with what you say. All I'm asking is that you extend some common courtesy to people & if you can't then I will have to unfriend you.
--------
Me:

I was not judging. I was only stating facts. If people are offended, that is up to them. As it says in 1 Nephi 16:2 --

2 ......guilty taketh the truth to be hard, for it cutteth them to the very center.
(Book of Mormon | 1 Nephi 16:2)

I want to improve my life, better my life. The comments I see you make, you do not want to. If you still feel the need to unfriend me, by all means do so. I will not be affected by it.

As I said in my last post on that post, as long as watching that show brings in the spirit, by all means go ahead and watch.
--------

Wendy:

Becky ~ you seriously need to read what you just said. You just totally JUDGE me by saying that the things you see me post that I don't want to improve my life. That is JUDGING!!!!! You have no idea what I have gone thru, what I deal with on a day to say basis. So until you have walked in my shoes, stop judging. Remember...Judge not lest ye be judge! Facebook is a place for people to have fun, to get support. It is social media. A place to be friendly & make friends. It shouldn't be a place where people judge them or criticize everything they say. You always seem to find fault in what other people say. Who cares if a word is spelled wrong? This is not a spelling be. Do I complain to you about all the YouTube videos you post? No.
----------------

Me:

I do not mean to judge. The circumstances that you go through day by day you attract to yourself. It has been documented and proven thousands of times. It all starts with the kind of thoughts you think. The videos I post, I post because I want people to wake up and see where they are in life and improve. (If you don't want to see them, you can edit them so you don't see them.) You say you are not perfect. That is rationalizing your acts and decisions. Isn't that what Satan wants us to do? Rationalize the fact that we're not perfect so why even try? Isn't that his design? Can you honestly answer No to that? And once again I say, if watching Dexter (and like manner shows/movies) brings in the spirit, go ahead and watch. Would you let your children watch? Doesn't Christ say to become as children? I only want you to actually think about the decisions you make in life, and which way do they take you. And yes, I am still learning also.
-------------------

Wendy:

    • You can post what ever you want to your facebook pg. I commend you for wanting to post things that will uplift & enlighten people. What you have to understand is that not everyone has the same beliefs that you have & its ok not too & you need to respect that & show them common courtesy. The Gospel is about inviting people to come unto Christ by our example & not by trying to force it on them/cram it down their throats. In fact, the first person who comment on that post is an active member of the church who has a current Temple recommend, attends the Temple on a regualar basis & her husband who she watches the show with is a former Bishop. To answer your question, No, I wouldn't let my kids watch that show. TV show are giving specific ratings so that you know what kind of content the have in them. I don't watch my adult shows until they have gone to bed as I'm sure many other members of the church do. I'm pretty sure that nothing on that show is something I wouldn't of seen had I become a CSI as I planned to become years ago. I can agree that some of our actions & thoughts attract what happen to us but that is not always the case. You can't tell me that my children were hoping & praying that their dad would have an affair & leave them or that Kyle was hoping & praying he would get sick & die. Those are called trails. Everyone has them. They are individual to the person. We all have different levels of understanding & will be held accountable for our own actions, including judging others. No one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. So until you can walk on water, turn water into wine, heal the sick & raise people from the dead I suggest that you think before you speak & remember that God loves everyone, including the sinner.
      --------------------------

      Me:

I am not forcing my beliefs on others. I am not holding their head to the computer / phone and forcing them to read/watch what I post.

What that bishop decides to watch is on him and his family.

If you had become a CSI you would have seen those images because it would have been your job. When it's on tv, you have a choice to watch or not.

I can direct you to some youtube videos, or some books, or some articles that can answer the question about your ex and Kyle. I also have some recordings on one of my blogs if you would like to listen to them. How about some scriptures to look up? Or, you can just look up Law of Attraction and get the answer on your own.

I was not judging. I was simply asking a question. However the other person took it is on that person. They make the choice as to what emotion / feeling they will feel.

Do you read anything I write? I think this'll be the third or fourth time I will have written this. If you watch the show and it improves you, invites the spirit in, you would not be ashamed to watch with God and/or Christ sitting next to you, by all means go ahead and watch.
      ---------------------------------------

      Wendy:

Becky ~ It makes me laugh that you continue to be on your high horse & sitting in judgement of me. And how you continue to ignore the fact that you are living in sin. I don't need to read anything you have in regards to my kids because I continue to counsel with my Bishop over the situation. He is the one that I look to for guidance. Not you. You proved my point when you said it is the bishops choice to watch what he wants & it is on him. We all have choices to make & it isn't for other people to judge. So stop doing it. I believe it says somewhere in the scriptures that people who are sinning do that very same thing. I also know that people who are living in sin like to point out other peoples flaws to make themselves feel better about what they are doing. So you can continue to live in denial about living with your boyfriend & keep on justifying to yourself that it is ok & that is your choice & you will have to answer for it. To answer your question...no I don't read what you put on your fb because it is annoying & self righteous! I'm done with this conversation. Please do not respond.

Patterned Perforations

Patterned Perforations A unique guardrail on this straight staircase. The pattern is the result of many considerations: a desire for the perforations to modulate relative to eye level while ascending and descending the stair. By Schwartz & architecture and S/U/M architecture
