Hmmm, I never thought about it. Maybe they have no need to touch eachother. Touching is a comforting thing & as a spirit I wouldn't think you would have that need.
But, I think spiritual beings are content in the state they are in...I just don't see them hugging & touching (no pun intended), or having the need to. Yes, I, as a being on this earth would want to hug my loved ones when I see them again. But, do spirits feel that same need?
I believe spirits still touch and hug each other. Brigham Young recorded a vision of spirits being welcomed into the spirit world with embraces from loved ones. Elder Melvin J. Ballard said that normal relations exist in the spirit world:
"Some worry because departed children have apparently lost the privilege of courtship, marriage, and other opportunities. But revelations concerning the spirit world assure us that normal relationships leading to eternal sealings are an ongoing part of that life." (Bryant S. Hinckley, Sermons and Missionary Services of Melvin J. Ballard, Deseret Book Company, 1949, p. 260.)
We know that once we're resurrected, husbands and wives in the Celestial Kingdom will have spirit children in the normal way.

ReplyDeleteI was wondering for when we pass on and see our friends and family. You'd want to hug them, yes?

Thanks Judy, that helped answer my question.
